The park is renowned for its remarkable concentration of wildlife, notably the majestic elephants, and stands as one of East Africa’s premier birding destinations. Its name is derived from the Tarangire River, which traverses the park, covering an extensive area of 2850 km².

Climate: Tarangire experiences a bimodal rainfall pattern, with short rains occurring from November to December, long rains from March to May, and a dry season from June to October along with January to February. Situated between 900 meters and 1250 meters in altitude, the park receives an annual average rainfall ranging from 650 to 700mm.

Access: The park can be accessed by both road and air transportation.

By road, it is 121 km away via a tarmac road from Arusha city.

By air, flights are available from Kilimanjaro International Airport, located 46 km from Arusha. Charter flights are also an option, connecting from Arusha to Kuro Airstrip situated within the park.

Attractions: Tarangire offers remarkable attractions, including vast herds of elephants, the stunning natural beauty of the savanna landscape, and the iconic, towering Baobab trees. With over 550 recorded bird species in the park, many of which are threatened or endemic, it stands as a haven for bird enthusiasts.

Wildlife: Noted as a prime safari destination, Tarangire is famed for its high concentration of wildlife. Visitors can easily spot animals such as elephants, eland, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, leopards, and zebras while exploring the park in a four-wheel drive vehicle.
