Tour Plan

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our dedicated transfer driver will warmly welcome you and accompany you to a hotel in Arusha. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. You may choose to unwind by the lodge pool or venture into exploring the vibrant town of Arusha. In the late afternoon, our team will provide you with a comprehensive briefing, preparing you for the upcoming trek.

Following breakfast, you'll be escorted to the entrance gate of Kilimanjaro National Park. While your guide attends to the registration process, you can absorb the surroundings, peruse the information boards, and observe the mountain crew preparing for the ascent. Your trek begins through the refreshing rainforest, enveloped in lush green moss and lichen carpeting the ground, with towering trees and ferns providing a shield from the sun. Keep an eye out for the black and white colobus monkeys amidst the branches as you traverse the area. After approximately 5 to 6 hours, you'll reach the Machame Camp at an elevation of 3,010 meters above the tree line. Here, you'll enjoy your evening meal and spend the night in tents.

Continuing your ascent, you'll bid farewell to the rainforest, transitioning into the moor and heathland. En route to the New Shira Camp (3,845 m), you'll relish breathtaking vistas of the mountain range. By mid-afternoon, you'll arrive at the campsite, offering a magnificent view of the sun casting its glow upon the rock face and glacier of Kibo. Your overnight stay will be at the New Shira Camp, surrounded by this awe-inspiring natural beauty.

Today's trek involves climbing 700 meters, with your final destination just slightly higher than the previous night, aiding in your body's acclimatization to altitude changes in preparation for reaching heights exceeding 4,500 meters in the coming days. Your journey begins by ascending above the Shira Plateau towards the Lava Tower (4,640 m). As the landscape transitions into an alpine desert, vegetation becomes more sporadic. Traverse the scenic Barranco Valley adorned with lobelia and giant senecio plants, culminating in the Barranco Camp, renowned as one of the mountain's most picturesque camps, after approximately 6 to 7 hours. Here, you'll have your evening meal and spend the night, surrounded by the beauty of the Barranco Camp.

Today's adventure involves navigating the "Barranco Wall" with careful footing, supported by your guides whenever needed. As you ascend, relish captivating views of Kibo's south glacier while traversing the ridge. After a lunch break in the Karanga Valley, embark on a 2 to 3-hour climb to the Barafu Camp (4,640 m). Once there, take a well-deserved rest, enjoy your evening meal, and retire early for the night at the camp.

Day 6 initiates your ascent to Uhuru Peak from Barafu Camp (4,640 m) around midnight, commencing with a provision of hot tea and a light snack to prepare for the climb. Guided by a headlight, you'll ascend the screes of Kibo, reaching Stella Point after 5 to 7 hours of trekking. Subsequently, you'll follow the crater ridge to ultimately arrive at Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), relishing a breathtaking 360° view of the surrounding landscape. After savoring the panorama, you'll trace your steps back, descending along the same route to reach Barafu Camp just before midday. Following a warm meal and relaxation, you'll continue to Mweka Camp (3,080 m) for an additional 1 to 2 hours. At Mweka Camp, you'll enjoy your evening meal and settle in for the night.

Day 7 marks your departure: following breakfast and a traditional farewell ceremony, you'll commence a gradual descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,630 m). Upon arrival, your driver will be ready to transport you back to the hotel. There, you can unwind by the pool and celebrate the remarkable achievement of your journey.

On this day, the Wag Hill Team will coordinate a private departure transfer for your journey, providing transportation to either Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport, facilitating your return home or assisting if you plan to fly to Zanzibar Island.
